Last Update: May 23, 2010

This program is not complete. More improvements will be made in the future. Some planned improvements are:

  • Have more animated examples to show students how to solve the problems.
  • Add a larger variety of problems including multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
  • Include counting blocks (appropriate for the base that the student is working in) in more scenes so the students can manipulate the blocks to figure out answers..
  • Continue to work on layout and design to make the program more user friendly (the Feb. 22 and May 23 updates focused on some design improvements).
  • Add more vocal instructions.
  • Have about 3 of most problem types instead of just single questions.
  • Create a related program targeted for younger players that focuses more on patterns than on bases, but is still related to the pattern of counting.

Here is a copy of the original program that has evolved into Alien Arithmetic. The original program was called Base Eight Arithmetic and was posted on August 23, 2005.
