spirograph image Thank you for visiting Laura's fake tutoring information website. Do not really contact me and ask for tutoring, because I have no time for private tutoring at this point in my life. I used to do private tutoring and made good money at it, but I am on to other things now.

Now you see an example of bolded text using the strong element. I would use this if there were something on this page that I really wanted you to notice. Of course using the b element for bold would also work, but this is not recommended because the W3C wants us to use the strong element which can work with styles.

Here you see an example of italized text using the em element. Since I am into math and all, I would normally used italized text when I am using variables. Of course, I could make text italic by using the i element, but this is not recommended since formatting within a web page is being depreciated. Em is preferred, since its look can be defined or redefined using styles.

Blockquotes elements can be handy, espcially when working with formulas or solutions to problems.

Sometimes I want a solution to be indented like this text is. Also when working with equations, I often need to make sure the equation itself doesn't get split between two lines. I can reduce the chances of an equation being split up, by starting it on a new line with the line break element (br) as follows:
f(x) = 5x³ + 3x² - 2,
but I usually prefer to put equations inside of no break tags (nobr): Apparently I can't use no break tags in this document because it causes the document to fail the validator test. I will need to devise a suitable alternative, since as a math teacher, that is a tag that I used a lot.

Text can be made larger or smaller than surrounding text with the big and small elements. Of course, I used to make text larger with a font size element, but we don't want to do that anymore do we?
